Anil Kumble
India · Leg-spinner
Anil Kumble is India's highest Test wicket-taker and one of the most determined cricketers the country has produced. Unlike classical leg-spinners, he relied on relentless accuracy, bounce and subtle variations to dismantle batting line-ups on all kinds of surfaces.
His courage and commitment — famously bowling with a broken jaw — came to define his career.

Career journey
Kumble built his record through sheer persistence, bowling long, accurate spells and extracting bounce where others could not turn the ball. His perfect ten — all ten wickets in a Test innings against Pakistan — is one of only two such feats in history, and his willingness to bowl with a broken jaw became a symbol of his commitment.
He led India as captain and later served as coach and administrator.
Why he matters to Indian fans
Kumble is beloved for his fighting spirit as much as his wickets. He was the ultimate team man, giving everything for India over nearly two decades, and his record as the country's leading Test wicket-taker places him among the greatest match-winners the game has seen.
